Phoenix (Feng Huang), is in fact 2 birds. Feng is the male bird and Huang is the female bird. The male is the yang and represents the solar cycle. The female is the yin and represents the lunar cycle. "Huang" is a symbol of the China empresses. In Chinese history, the mystical phoenix is only supposed to appear in times of peace and prosperity. And, it symbolizes the coming of opportunities for fame, recognition and public success luck.  The phoenix is the second among the four super-natural creatures. The first is the dragon, the third is the unicorn and the fourth is the tortoise. In feng shui, the phoenix is represented by a small mound or slightly elevated land in the south or in front of home/office. Six gold coins are for heaven luck and financial success. Peonies are for love. Immortal peaches are for long life and good health. And, the tortoise (the rock on which the phoenix is standing looks like a tortoise) is for support and longevity. All together, it has the auspicious meanings of a true lasting love and a fruitful marriage blessed with a great deal of success and prosperity.
